Data management

Study data will be collected and managed using REDCap electronic data capture tools, developed, tested and validated at the Unit of Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Public Health, Department of Cardiac-Thoracic-Vascular Sciences and Public Health, University of Padova, Italy.

REDCap is a secure, web-based software platform designed to support data capture for research studies, providing:

  1. an intuitive interface for validated data capture;
  2. audit trails for tracking data manipulation and export procedures;
  3. automated export procedures for seamless data downloads to common statistical packages;
  4. procedures for data integration and interoperability with external sources.

Access to REDCap will be granted only to data collecting staff of participating centres, in accordance with the procedures outlined in the present protocol.

Each participating centre is granted access only to the patient data it has generated and recorded on the REDCap platform.

The data will be recorded using an encrypted data connection (HTTPS) in input masks via a web browser or mobile app.

In compliance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation, the Sponsor will sign a specific data transfer agreement with the database holder.

Any future migration of all data collected within the current web-based database system to another server or electronic data capture system (i.e., REDCap) will grant the same standards in terms of data security and privacy, and in no case, it will foresee a substantial change to the graphic interface and to the functionalities already known and used by the participating centres.

All centres doing paediatric anaesthesia are welcome to join.

They can be in all five continents. CRICKET is going to be a true worldwide international study.

The study protocol is ready and centres interested to partecipate are welcome to join the network. All participating centre should receive approval by the local Ethic Committee or IRB before starting.
